About Me

My Story of where it all began…

My Mission

Hi, I’m Kenechukwu Akalia — pharmacist, advocate, and sickle cell warrior.

I created Beyond the Crisis as a space where sickle cell warriors, caregivers, and allies can find truth, support, and strength. I’ve lived with sickle cell all my life, and for years, I stayed quiet about that journey — navigating pain in silence while supporting others behind the scenes.

But I’ve learned that sometimes, your story is someone else’s survival guide.
With a background in pharmacy and a passion for improving the quality of life for people living with sickle cell, I’m using my voice to educate, advocate, and uplift.

This platform shares both the science and the soul of life with sickle cell — from daily management and emotional resilience to tough conversations about genotype, relationships, and self-worth.

Whether you’re a warrior, caregiver, parent, or just eager to learn — welcome.
Let’s go Beyond the Crisis, together.

Yours Truly,
Kenechukwu Akalia
Pharmacist & Sickle Cell Warrior
